All about Frate.

Who am I?

As you already know, my name is John Iafrate, but to my friends, I’m known as “Frate”. I am a 31 year old Graphic and Web Designer and I love what I do. I am married to a beautiful woman and we live in the Charlotte, NC area. I enjoy cooking, watching football and traveling. Beyond that, I ask you to continue your journey to learn more about me.

Where am I from?

I was born in Belleville, NJ, and did most of my growing up in Schenectady, NY. I had a great group of friends, a strong family support system and enjoyed playing football. However, when I turned 17, my parents and I moved to Charlotte, NC. Moving so young was not easy; this meant I left the things I loved behind to start all over. I finished my high school education in Charlotte and decided to go to college at UNC Charlotte. The move turned out to be one of our best decisions. Charlotte has become the city I love and has truly become the place I call home.

What do I do?

I am a Graphic Designer. I decided to pursue my design career while attending UNC Charlotte, though I started college as an engineering student. After a year as an engineering student, I decided that it wasn't for me. I switched to art school because art and design have always been my passion. When I discovered I could apply my creative skills in design, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Designing became my career.

My passion never changed. I continue to get involved in several aspects of design. Whether it is print, web or flash, I love it all because it brings my creative side to life. I consider myself a constant student of the field; I am always looking to become better. I know there still is much to learn; but I have had many excellent mentors and teachers. With their experience and my motivation, the only way is up!

While updating FrateWorld.com, I decided the theme should match my personality. One of the things I enjoy is traveling the USA. I realized I could express myself through the web site with an ultimate road trip to the different parts of the country which have influenced me. From the beaches to the mountains, what would a road trip be without driving through the country side? Each page is designed to take you to a different place in my imagination…or my world!

Why did I create FrateWorld.com?

You may look at this site with the flashy headers, dynamic functions and design and wonder if I am showing off. The answer is “yes”, because I feel this would be the best way to show what I can do. This site displays my capabilities to show that I am more than your average “new” guy. Why take my word for it when I can show you I can play at a higher level?
